Perspective, Commentary, and Book Review Articles

Definition

Perspective and commentary articles are scholarly papers representing a personal argument or a new perspective regarding a current study on a particular topic. Therefore, these do not need original research and are less time-consuming than original research papers. A book review is a book's descriptive and critical evaluation report. It delivers a synopsis of the content, assesses the book's value, and recommends it (or not) to other potential readers. In addition, a book review is an objective summary of the leading ideas and arguments that the book's author(s) has presented.

Tags

Perspective, commentary, and book review articles must cover the Journal's fields within its scope: Architectural engineering, Architectural History, Environmental and sustainable design, General architecture, Historic preservation and conservation, Interior Architecture, Industrial design, Landscape architecture, Urban design, Urban and regional planning.

Special constraints

  • Perspectives and commentary have the same fundamental structure and length as review articles. Nevertheless, they should be more speculative and very forward-looking, even visionary.
  • All research articles are welcome. However, papers dealing with issues, phenomena, studies, and projects in Iraq and the Middle East are preferred.
  • The usage of unpublished resources is mostly not ideal.
  • An author conveys an opinion through a critical article and supports it with evidence from the book. Book reviewers inform potential readers of something substantial regarding the book. Perspectives and commentary articles also must be documented by references.

Supplementary data policies

  • Statistical data should be in Excel or SPSS file format if relevant.
  • Unpublished images, maps and charts used in the research should be submitted as supplementary data.
  • Permission to use data, images, figures, tables, charts, and other information is required.
